Trust. It’s my one word for the year. It seems like a rather anti-climactic choice until you realize that this is the one word that undergirds all other “one words.”
Maybe you chose one of the words below as your focus this year. If you are a Christ-Follower, trust is the foundation on which they rest.
-Forgiven. Trust in the One that has removed your sins as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12)
-Brave. Trust that God will help you “Be strong and courageous” (Joshua 1:9)
-Gratitude. Trust that “every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of lights” (James 1:17).
-Abide. Trust that Jesus abides in you so you can rest and be at home in Him (John 15).
I could go on and on, but the reason I chose the word trust is because back in January when Facebook was a flurry of one word posts, I felt like God was calling me to put my “Yes” on the table.
To say to Him, “You have my Yes, Lord. No matter what that means, where that takes me, or how that looks. My yes is on the table, and I trust You for whatever you want to do in me and through me.”
JD Greer, in his book What Are You Going to Do with Your Life, says this:
“Essentially, what Jesus asks from us—that we give our lives like a blank check to Him. We put our “yes” on the table…before He even asks the question.”
What about you?
Have you put your “yes” on the table?
No matter what one word you’ve chosen, trust Him today because He is the only one worthy of our “Yes.”
